Day 1 Arrival in Rainbow Beach

You start this building block from Brisbane. After picking up your car, get ready for a drive north to Rainbow Beach, located on the Sunshine Coast. On the way, we recommend stopping at the Glasshouse Mountains; sixteen volcanic rocks that still have important spiritual significance for Aborigines today. From the lookout you'll look out over this Jurassic Park-like landscape. By late afternoon you'll arrive in the quintessentially Australian coastal town of Rainbow Beach where you'll sleep in our B&B for the next two nights. It has a 'laid-back' atmosphere with a long beach and has not yet been discovered by the general public.

Day 2 Day trip Fraser Island

Today it's time for a full day on Fraser Island; the largest sand island in the world at 120 kilometres long and 15 kilometres wide. No wonder, because on this island you will find dense tropical jungle, vast eucalyptus forests, pristine beaches and unusual animal species, such as wild dingoes, for example.

Do you have time and want to see more of Fraser Island? Then book our two-day Dingoes & Billabongs building block.

In the morning you will be picked up at the hotel and depart by ferry to Fraser Island. Upon arrival, the sand adventure begins immediately and you board the 4WD truck. Through rough sandy roads you will arrive at the famous "75 Mile Beach", a vast beach which is used as a 'highway' at low tide. You will visit various sights such as the Maheno shipwreck, the coloured rocks called "Coloured Sands" and swim in the freshwater lake Eli Creek. Of course, you will have the chance to swim in one of the most azure lakes you have ever seen, Lake Mackenzie. You'll be back in Rainbow Beach around 5pm.

Day 3 Rainbow Beach to Noosa

Travel time: approximately 1.5 hours

After breakfast, it's time to continue towards Noosa. You can do this, for example, via the Australia Zoo of the world's most famous Crocodile Hunter. This is not just any zoo because walking around here means feeling the passion for nature and animals that Steve 'crickey' Irwin so enthusiastically propagated. You walk among kangaroos and koalas and come face to face with a wombat or cassowary. A zoo but 'the Ozzie way'.You'll arrive in Noosa in the afternoon.

Day 4-5 Noosa

Noosa is a laid-back holiday town with sprawling beaches, its own National Park, walking trails, plenty of shops and cosy cafes. These days you are therefore free to go wherever you want. Take part in a surf lesson (they come in all sorts of levels) or take a mountain bike tour through the interior. We went canoeing in the Everglades and experienced the beautiful River of Mirrors.
Hasting Street is Noosa's most famous street. This street is full of nice eateries in Mediterranean and Asian atmospheres and trendy shops ranging from surfer chic to haute couture. Boredom is not an option here. You will sleep in a comfortable resort that features a swimming pool, among other amenities.

Day 6 Departure from Noosa

Travel time: approximately 2.5 hours

From Noosa, you'll be led from the bustling Sunshine Coast through Australia's interior back to Brisbane. Arriving here, you will return the car.
Depending on your further plans, book a night in our cosy bed and breakfast. It has a homely atmosphere and its central location is convenient. A nice walk from the guesthouse is through the botanical garden, full of palm trees, to the Brisbane River.
If you have more time to spare, combine this building block with the northern hightlights of the east coast with Driving past reefs and rainforest. Or fly to Sydney, where you can admire the famous Opera House and Harbour Bridge in this vibrant city, or Alice Springs in the middle of the Outback where you can taste the almost mystical experience of Ayers Rock and Kings Canyon.
